We have forgotten to appreciate stillness, calmness and slow pace. A dance reel can blow up on Instagram only if it’s super fast in the first 3 seconds. The hook and this spoiled algorithm has decided what we should consume and what we should put out. Bharatanatyam was never meant for a platform like this. It was never about geometrical adavus and dhurithakaalams (fast speeds). The beauty of Thodi (Ragam) can only be felt when you mature in dance. To sustain the Bhava in the slowest ways possible, to enjoy the stillness, to indulge in the raga. Sometimes Hari sir teaches me to slow down as I chase what’s accepted in contemporary Bharatanatyam. He shows me the beauty of traditional pieces. No one needs to understand, you don’t need validation from Instagram folks. It’s just important that you understand why the art was such initially. The amazing orchestra made me forget I was dancing on antibiotics and a high fever… @srikanth_sings @hari.padman @dance_to_my_tunes @sivam_191004 Throwback to one of my solos at Narada Gana Sabha during Margazhi ♥️
