Manabasa Gurubar is a sacred Odia festival dedicated to Maa Lakshmi, celebrated on all Thursdays of the month of Margasira (Nov–Dec). Homes are thoroughly cleaned and decorated, as it’s believed the Goddess enters only pure, tidy spaces. Women create beautiful Jhoti/Alpana rice-paste designs to invite prosperity, and families read the Lakshmi Purana.
