quit my job and booked a one-way ticket. Best decision of my life. 🇩🇰✈️ In 2009, I flew from Hyderabad → Frankfurt → Copenhagen, alone, for the first time. My brother lived there — that was my only safety net. What I didn’t expect was to fall completely, irreversibly in love. Here’s what nobody told me before that trip 👇 1. A tiny Vero Moda store in Copenhagen City Center introduced me to a brand I’d never heard of. Years later, it’s everywhere in India. Travel shows you the future. 2. I landed during Michael Jackson’s funeral. Copenhagen threw a city-wide tribute party in the streets. A solo girl from Hyderabad, dancing with strangers. I’ve never felt less alone. 3. I crossed the Øresund Bridge — the sea link between Denmark and Sweden. Half bridge. Half underwater tunnel. You feel like you’re inside the ocean. Nothing Google can prepare you for this. 4. We took a weekend ferry to Hven Island, Sweden. A hidden island between two countries. Tycho Brahe’s beaches. Zero tourists. Pure silence. That’s the moment I quit my career in my heart. 5. I watched Copenhagen Pride — one of the world’s largest. As a girl from Hyderabad, it shook something open in me. So much freedom in one city square. 4 months in Copenhagen. Weekend trips to Malmö and Hven. The Metro of Copenhagen they call “the tube.” The cold. The light. The people. I came back a completely different woman. Solo travel doesn’t find you.
