BKTC Chairman Hemant Dwivedi confirmed during a press conference that actor Sara Ali Khan will be permitted to visit Badrinath and Kedarnath only after submitting a formal affidavit. The document must state, “I am a Sanatani; I believe in Hindutva,” and affirm her devotion to Sanatan Dharma. The committee has already standardized the format for this affidavit, which applies to all non-Hindus wishing to enter the temple complexes. This move stems from a unanimous decision on March 10, 2026, to prohibit “non-Sanatanis” from entering 47 temples under BKTC jurisdiction, including the sanctum sanctorum (garbhagriha) of the two major shrines. While Sara Ali Khan has frequently visited these temples in the past and starred in the 2018 film Kedarnath, the committee emphasized that the new rules apply equally to high-profile figures and the general public to maintain spiritual decorum ahead of the Char Dham Yatra starting April 19.
