Someone who, two years ago, used to doubt herself wondering whether she would be able to make everyone proud, whether her parents would be proud of her or not, has finally made it to something that was once just a dream. Today, while receiving the degree and stepping down from the stage, I went and touched my parents’ feet (which is usually not allowed in most North Indian families because daughters are considered goddesses). But at that moment, when my parents let me do it with pride and tears in their eyes where I realised, yes, I did it. The happiness on their faces was real, and that’s something I had always dreamt of. Mummy, Papa your daughter is now an IIM grad. You can finally tell the world, “meri beti ne IIM se MBA kiya hai.” And I promise this is just the beginning. I’ll keep making you proud. Grateful for this journey, for everything it taught me, and for this opportunity because I know this is a dream many still hold.
