Trekking to Kedarnath: A Journey of Faith and Adventure Kedarnath, nestled in the Garhwal Himalayas, is one of India’s most sacred shrines. The journey is as rewarding as it is challenging. Route & Trek The trip began at Chopta, with a 10–13 km trek to Chandrashila, offering panoramic Himalayan views. From there, the next stop was Gaurikund, the base for the Kedarnath trek. Though the official distance is around 16 km, steep climbs and curves make it feel much longer. Starting at 5 a.m., the trek usually takes 10–12 hours, ending near the Kedarnath temple by evening. Stay & Experience Accommodation can be tricky without pre-booking, but military and government camps sometimes provide shelter.
