Standing at Mertani Baori, Jhunjhunu—one of Shekhawati’s most stunning stepwells—felt surreal. Built in 1783 by Mertani, widow of Sardul Singh, this nearly 30-meter-deep marvel with its endless stairs and arches once quenched thirst and offered refuge from the harsh heat.
