According to one story, the Sas-Bahu Temple was originally known as the Sahastrabahu Temple, dedicated to Lord Vishnu. It is said that the temple was built by King Mahipala of the Kachchhapaghata dynasty in the 11th century. Another popular tale suggests that the temple was built by King Kirti Singh in honor of his mother-in-law and wife, symbolizing his respect and devotion towards them.
