When Yamaha shook the world... The 1970s and 80s were the golden era of two-stroke performance. Suzuki had dipped their toes in at 250cc, but Yamaha said forget that and came out swinging with the 499cc RZ500. It was a street-legal version of the YZR500, the same motorcycle Kenny Roberts took to second place in the 1983 Grand Prix season 🏆 And Yamaha didn't hold back on the tech. The RZ500 carried a two-stroke V4 engine straight from the race programme, sat in an aluminium frame to keep weight in check, and came wrapped in a full fairing - both for the aero and, honestly, for that full GP look ❤️ And how can we miss the Quad under-seat exhausts?! But what made the RZ500 special wasn't just how fast it was. It was what it represented. For most people, a genuine Grand Prix bike was something you watched on TV. The RZ500 was as close as it got to actually having one in your garage. Thank you @lifeoflokey for sharing one such example with us! #superbikesinindia #yamaha #rz500 #motorcycles
