Dear Aadu, You turned 8 in the blink of an eye. Sometimes I still feel like I am holding the tiny baby who used to fit in my arms, and now here you are — a big girl with your own friends, your own style of dressing, and your own likes and dislikes. Watching you grow into your own person makes my heart so full. I love how curious you are about the world. I love how you laugh loudly, how you ask a hundred questions, and how you sometimes try to do things on your own even when they feel difficult. Every day you are becoming a little more independent, and Mumma is very proud of you. But this year, there are a few things Mumma hopes you will learn. I want you to learn to be kind — not just to your friends, but also to the quiet child in the class, to animals, and most importantly to yourself. Kindness is one of the most beautiful things a person can carry in their heart. I want you to learn to be brave. Sometimes you will make mistakes, sometimes things won’t go the way you want, and that’s okay. Mistakes are how we learn and grow. I want you to learn to speak your mind. If something feels wrong, say it. If something makes you happy, share it. Your voice matters. I want you to learn that you are strong. Stronger than you realize. And no matter what happens in life, you will always have Mumma standing behind you. Most importantly, I want you to know that you are loved — on your good days, on your difficult days, when you win, and even when you lose. Nothing you do will ever change how much Mumma loves you.
