Vehicles Prohibited on the ORR Following are completely banned from entering the main carriage-way: • Two-wheelers • Three-wheelers (auto-rickshaws) • Tractors and agricultural vehicles • Pedestrians and cyclists 4. Key Safety Points to Remember Avoid Rear-End Collisions • Always maintain a safe 3-second following distance from the vehicle in front of you • Never tailgate Overtaking Protocols • Always overtake from the right side. Never cut lanes from the left. • Always use your indicators well in advance before shifting lanes. Handling Breakdowns & Emergencies • If your vehicle develops a snag, gradually move to the extreme left shoulder lane. • Immediately turn on your hazard lights (double indicators). • Place your reflective warning triangle at least 50 meters behind your vehicle • Step out of the car and stand away from the roadway (behind the crash barrier if possible) while waiting for help. Wrong-Way Driving & Reversing • Never reverse or drive in the wrong direction, even if you miss an exit. Night Driving Precautions • Watch out for heavy trucks that sometimes illegally park on the margins or shoulder lanes • Keep your windshield and headlights clean Emergency Helpline Numbers • ORR Emergency Helpline: 1066 / 1052 • Police Control Room: 100
