22 ઓક્ટોબર 2008ના રોજ ભારતે ઇતિહાસ રચ્યો હતો જ્યારે ઇસરો દ્વારા ચંદ્રયાન-1નું સફળ પ્રક્ષેપણ કરવામાં આવ્યું. આ ભારતનું પહેલું ચંદ્ર મિશન હતું, જેના માધ્યમથી ચંદ્ર પર પાણીના અણુઓની શોધ કરી વિશ્વને ચકિત કરી દીધું હતું. માત્ર 8 મહિનામાં જ ચંદ્રયાન-1એ ચંદ્રની સપાટીનું વિશ્લેષણ, ખનિજોની ઓળખ અને 3D નકશા તૈયાર કરીને ભારતને અંતરિક્ષ વિજ્ઞાનના ક્ષેત્રમાં નવી ઊંચાઈ આપી હતી. આ સફળતાએ વિશ્વને બતાવ્યું કે ભારત હવે માત્ર સપના નથી જોતું – પરંતુ તેને સાકાર પણ કરે છે.
