1. Studying without a clear direction Just sitting and studying all day doesn't guarantee results. Without a subject-wise strategy, you're just moving — not progressing. 2. Ignoring NCERT for fancy resources Many droppers fall into this trap. Especially for Biology and Inorganic Chemistry, NCERT is the Bible. Stick to it and master every line. 3. Focusing too much on one subject It's good to improve your weak areas, but don’t neglect your strong ones. NEET is about your total score, not just your Physics marks. 4. Waiting to be “fully prepared” before giving tests You’ll never feel 100% ready — and that’s okay. Mock tests aren’t just for checking preparation, they build it. Start giving them regularly. 5. Constantly comparing yourself with others “They’re ahead, I’m behind” — this mindset kills your consistency. Everyone has a different pace. Focus on your growth, not others’ timelines. 6. Making routines but not following them Planning feels productive, but discipline lies in execution. Even a 6-hour focused day is better than planning for 12 hours and doing 2. 7. Not tracking your progress If you don’t know what’s working and what’s not, how will you improve? Track chapters done, test scores, mistakes — everything. Be your own coach. 8. Ignoring your mental health Droppers face anxiety, self-doubt, burnout — and that’s normal. But suppressing it isn’t strength. Take breaks, talk to someone, protect your peace. --- This drop year can change your life — but only if you stop repeating the same mistakes.
