Dolon's Post

Sudder Street, back in the day, was the favourite haunt of hippies, backpackers, and low-budget travellers drifting through Kolkata. Mornings for them meant breakfast at Blue Sky Café and evenings were spent at the then-unrenovated Fairlawn Hotel, with cheap beer and unhurried conversations. Blue Sky Café was one of the few places in the city where you could find continental food, apart from the usual Flurys, Peter Cat and Mocambo. We loved it because it suited our forever-empty pockets. Many people did not go to Sudder Street because it was considered “shady.” Today it feels softened by time. What hasn’t changed in Sudder Street though is Blue Sky’s food.
