103/104/105 looks familiar na? Got so use to seeing these temperatures on the thermometer 🤒 with yuvaan this time when he caught the flu that I did not rush him to the doc or hospital. Yes I panicked , spoke to friends to understand what to do, how to manage such high temperatures and thought of sharing my journey of this flu that my son caught so that you can try to stay calm and follow some of the things we did. - keep ur child well hydrated. Water, ORS, Electral powder water, tang , soups, juices etc - keep monitoring temperature every 1-2 hours (like a psycho) maintain a diary by writing the temperature - give medicine every 6-8 hours depending on the temperature. We were giving calpol / ibujesic / meftal P (please give as per your child age, weight etc) , consult pead if needed - don’t panic! - if the temp rises over 103 immediately wipe the child’s body with room temperature water mainly on the underarm, forehead , feet or put child under the shower (room temp water) for 2/3 mins - doctors say avoid giving antibiotics unless needed - this fever is lasting 5/7 days so do not rush the child to the doctor wait it out - observe the child’s breathing, if shivering, breathlessness, blabbering in sleep and no sleep then go to the doctor immediately - tummy ache, vomiting , body ache, loss of appetite , weight loss is normal in this flu The child has major weakness post the flu so ensure they get 1/2 days of rest before sending them back to school. Fever should not be there for 24 hours before you send ur child to school or anywhere. Keep in mind other children may get infected. Take care of the kids. Follow doctor @drniharparekh he’s got some fabulous content and helps me keep sane. Taking care of children is anyway a task and sick children even more. Try not to loose ur patience and sanity. Please note: the above is my personal experience with my child, don’t hold me or any of the above against me. Consult ur doctor and get the required medication for your child.
