Sri Veerabhadra temple or The Lepakshi Temple is steeped in lore, with its name, location, and features linked to the epic Ramayana and the legend of Jatayu. The temple is believed to be the site where the great bird Jatayu, wounded in battle with Ravana, fell and met Lord Rama. The temple’s name, “Lepakshi,” is thought to be derived from Rama’s words to the wounded Jatayu, “Le Pakshi” (Arise, bird) In front of Uyala Mantapa, Sita Ma’s footprint is there. It is known that Jatayu, whose wings were severed, drew water from the place where Sita put her foot on the hill and drank it to stay alive until Rama came and told the information and got salvation. Even in summer season water can be seen standing in the big toe area of this foot. #lepakshi #lepakshitemple #templetour #indianheritage #indiantemples #templephotography #spiritualjourney #southindiatemples #karnatakatourism #travelwithfamily #ancientarchitecture #indiantravelblogger #exploreindia #hiddenindia #offbeatplacesinindia #templesofindia #templesofsouthindia #spiritualgrowthjourney [Lepakshi temple, Ma Sita footprint, Sheshnag sculpture, Karnataka tourism, ancient Indian temples, South India travel, cultural heritage India, spiritual travel India, family temple visit, travel photography India, offbeat heritage sites]
