Story time: I had my first international trip back in 2006 where Rome was one of the 3 cities we visited. Being the first trip, we naturally went with a tour group and it’s an understatement when I say it was also the biggest mistake we made. Back then itself when I stood outside the Sistine Chapel & couldn’t enter, I decided I’d come back here someday and fulfil my love for history. Since then, EVERY year I’d tell mum I wanted to do Rome, it was an unfinished goal and almost 2 decades later, we made it. Little did I know that back then, we hadn’t even entered the Vatican City, forget the Chapel. So when I walked in, looked up and saw ‘The Ceiling’, tears just naturally began pouring down like a part of my soul was finally relieved♥️ To say the day was dramatic is to put it plainly but 10 year old Aashi finally just had her biggest dream come true and here’s to her🥹 1. Just 2 days into the country and we ended up at Sarvana Bhavan for good ol’ dosas 2. Missed out originally booked 1:40pm tour for the Vatican City because of the damn train strikes and lack of cabs. Walked for an hour trying to find them and finally got 2 after waiting by the footpath for another 30 minutes💁🏽♀️ 3. Reached just 10 minutes late but entries shut which meant that for all intents & purposes, we lost out on the tour with all others booked out. 4. But @shikha.parekh will ALWAYS get what she puts her mind to. And she’d decided her sister & husband aren’t leaving Rome without seeing the damn place they came all the way here for. Spent an additional 50K (no we’re not rich) and gave it a shot with last minute third party tickets. Obviously, we made it in at 4:30pm!😋 5. 30K people visit the City everyday which means we weren’t going to get a cab back. So we decided to take the metro and in the 2 minutes between placing his ticket in the pocket and entering the train, dad’s wallet got stolen. 6. Reached the apartment, cried out of guilt for a few hours, spoke to a few loved ones who made me see the silver lining and life went about usual then. So while this’ll be my last reel until I’m back, this one’s special. Also, stop putting nazar guys, be nice!🤦🏽♀️🧿
