Khambir or Khamiri roti is a traditional, thick, fermented whole wheat bread from Ladakh, known for its golden-brown crust and slightly chewy texture. This staple is made by fermenting dough and is typically baked on a hot stone or tava, resulting in a hearty bread with the distinctive sourdough flavour. Best paired with Gur- Gur Chai or Ladakhi stews like the Skyu, a traditional, hearty, one-pot comfort food. The Khambir, Skyu and butter tea are designed for cold mountain climates of Ladakh and Kashmir. @sewa_homestays offer an opportunity to stay with local and try their food. Currently, SEWA has listed and facilitated the opening of homestays in Ladakh, Goa and Gujarat. Photos @all_about_f0od Location @kamla_sewa
