Discover Philadelphia Episode 3 Kennet Square in the Countryside of Philadelphia is the Mushroom Capital of the World. Over a million pounds of mushrooms grow here every single day. And it has been a mushroom powerhouse since the 1800s. I walked through streets lined with murals, markets selling mushroom merchandise, and the love for fungi that runs deep. And of course, I had to eat like a local. My favorite places to eat - Portabello’s by Chef Brett for the mushroom en cocotte and the cremini stroganoff. Market Street Grill for their American breakfast options and the best hash browns. Hank’s Place is a local favorite and rightly so with their signature American and Greek menu. 1906 at Longwood Gardens is a fine dining delight with local and seasonal produce with from their garden.
