Manzoli Castle is constructed with four corner towers and a keep and surrounded by a moat that can be overcome through two drawbridges. The current castle was built in the year 1414 at the behest of the Bolognese knight Bartolomeo Manzoli on the remains of an ancient defense tower of the thirteenth century, called Torre Degli Ariosti, located on the edge of the Dugliolo Marsh. At the end of the 19th century, it was subject to a stylistic restoration by Alfonso Rubbiani. It takes its name from the Manzoli family, generous owner of the manor since 1407.
