Celebrated my first Savitri Brata with love, prayers, and the hope for a long, prosperous life for my partner. 🌿💫 What is Savitri Puja? Savitri Puja (or Savitri Brata) is a sacred festival observed by married Hindu women, especially in Odisha. It’s a day when wives pray for the well-being, longevity, and success of their husbands—drawing inspiration from the legendary tale of Savitri and Satyavan, a story of unwavering love and determination. How it’s performed: 🌿 Women fast all day, wear new traditional sarees (often yellow, red, or white), apply sindoor, and tie sacred threads. 🌳 The worship is usually done under a banyan tree (or with a symbolic setup at home) as the tree represents longevity. 🙏 Offerings of fruits, flowers, and special puja items are made while chanting the Savitri Brata Katha. ❤️ The fast is broken after rituals, praying for a harmonious and long-lasting marital life.
