This place hits different! 🇪🇹 If you’re into crazy landscapes and off-the-beaten-path adventures, buckle up because this is WILD 🔥 Here’s some cool facts about Danakil depression: • Think alien hot springs in every color imaginable • The ground literally bubbles with acid pools (yes, actual acid!) • Smells like 1000 rotten eggs but you’ll be too busy picking your jaw up off the floor to care • Pro tip: Go at sunrise. The light hits different and makes everything look even more unreal BUT - this isn’t your typical vacation spot: • We’re talking about one of the hottest places ON EARTH (hit 50°C while I was there!) • Zero cell service • Rough roads • Basic camping (Sleeping under the starts and Mother Nature is your washroom) The whole experience felt like we landed on another planet: • Endless salt flats that look like fresh snow • Watching local salt miners do their thing with camel caravans at sunrise • That moment when we reached Erta Ale volcano and saw actual lava bubbling 🌋 • Meeting the super tough Afar people who somehow survive in these crazy conditions Dallol though... that place lives rent-free in my head now. It’s like Mother Nature went on a trip 🍄 and created this massive natural art installation. The colours are so wild, my photos look edited (they’re not!). Yellow, orange, green, red - all these toxic pools creating the most insane patterns I’ve ever seen. Quick reality check though - this trip isn’t for everyone: • You’ll sweat in places you didn’t know could sweat • Everything you own will smell like sulphur for days • The stay/journey is “adventurous” • But trust me, it’s 100% worth it!
