My first time in Auroville felt less like a trip and more like a recalibration. 👉🏻 I stayed at CGH Sanctuary Amaidayana, in the Heiwa Room—700 sq. ft. of deliberate stillness. Designed by Poppo Pingel to resemble prayerful, joined hands, the space felt meditative without trying too hard. A queen bed, rock-garden views, open-to-sky spaces, and that quiet Japanese minimalism that encourages you to breathe more slowly. 👉🏻 Tried Watsu Therapy for the first time with @pulkit_onhisway (will push a separate reel on that) 👉🏻 Beyond the stay, Auroville itself unfolded through @gopirajanmahalingam — the most wonderful and deeply knowledgeable Aurovillian I could have hoped to meet. We explored sustainable architecture, studios practising slow fashion, and communities living farm-to-fork long before it became a trend. Meal at Solitude Cafe was honest and hyperlocal, though back at the sanctuary, the Sand Lobster and Crab curry remains the star. 👉🏻 I visited the Matrimandir and Savitri Bhavan, but what stayed with me more was the philosophy of Sri Aurobindo and Mirra Alfassa. Their vision of human unity and conscious evolution feels radical even today. This side of Tamil Nadu slowed me down. It stripped ambition to its core and asked better questions. In Auroville, community service isn’t charity; it’s participation. Money doesn’t anchor life here—purpose does. For the first time in a long while, I caught myself wondering what it would mean to belong to a place like this.
