રણ ઉત્સવની શરૂઆત ગુજરાતમાં 2005માં થઈ હતી, જ્યારે મુખ્યમંત્રી નરેન્દ્ર મોદીએ કચ્છની અનોખી સંસ્કૃતિ અને કળાને ઉજાગર કરવાનો આ વિચાર કર્યો હતો. શરૂઆતમાં માત્ર ત્રણ દિવસનો હતો, પરંતુ હવે આ ઉત્સવ 100 દિવસ સુધી ચાલી ને દેશ-વિદેશના પ્રવાસીઓને આકર્ષે છે. રણ ઉત્સવમાં કચ્છના લોકનૃત્ય, હસ્તકલા, સંગીત અને પરંપરાગત જીવનનો અનુભવ કરવા મળે છે, જે કચ્છના રણની સુંદરતા સાથે જોડાયેલો છે.
