Too glad to let you all know that yesterday an article written by us on our experience with living with the Mentawai tribe in the jungles of Sumatra got published in a Marathi weekly magazine "Saptahik Sakal". Readers and friends reached out to share their views or to ask for more information. It took us back to the days when we were in the midst of the rainforest, sharing our lives with the people of Mentawai living off the grid, far away from modern civilization, deeply rooted to the traditions, rituals and living in absolute harmony with nature. The warm, friendly faces, their serene smiles, and pure laughter still remain in our hearts. The shaman named Amaan, our host, was very sad to see us go. We bonded over the shared meals and music and anecdotes. He was almost tearing up. We saw the genuine love in his eyes, too rare to find these days amongst the strangers. From smoky uma hearths to river crossings at dusk—Mentawai taught us slowness, skill, and kinship. Grateful our story found a home at @_saptahiksakal_ . These frames hold the gentlest people and the wildest lessons.
